Most experts recommend from 1300 to 2000 watts. However, it is worth noting that the higher the power, the longer the motor will last. If your hair is fragile, consider using a hairdryer with multiple temperature and speed settings to get the most out of your hairdryer and extend its life.

For high quality hair dryers, wattage is important. The higher the wattage, the faster and warmer the air will become. 1200W is sufficient for fine/fine hair as it will produce less heat and prevent burning, 1300W - 1800W should be sufficient for most hair types, and anything above 1800W should only be used for very thick or curly hair.

Consider the natural texture of your hair. Thick, coarse hair will require a straightening iron heated to a high temperature, but thin, fine hair may be damaged by the high heat. If you have fine hair, shop for irons that offer a variety of heat settings.
